We are pleased to inform you that a CNRS tenure-track position is opened at the Institut Charles Sadron (ICS) in Strasbourg. The ICS is part of a vibrant interdisciplinary environment of Strasbourg and the wider Lower-Rhine region, combining cutting-edge research and training in chemistry. Its vibrant international community and state-of-the-art facilities make it an ideal environment for advancing scientific discovery and interdisciplinary research.

Eligibility and Support

Applicants must hold a PhD and have 2–5 years of postdoctoral experience to qualify for a position as a “CNRS Research Director” at the end of the tenure track position. The position comes with research funding of €200,000, and the successful candidate will be required to teach 68 hours per year at the University of Strasbourg for the duration of the five years.

Research Expectations

The successful candidate is expected to develop internationally recognized research activities in applying machine learning to polymer synthesis. This may involve experiments combined with computational modeling or computational modeling alone. The research focus includes:

Exploring the structure-function-application triad to design new reactive and functional polymers.

Leveraging advances in polymer combinatorial chemistry and machine learning to develop materials tailored to specific performance requirements.

Addressing the challenges of the combinatorial explosion of monomer combinations and their diverse properties, drawing inspiration from machine learning successes in protein structure prediction.

Teaching Responsibilities

The candidate will contribute to teaching undergraduate and master's level courses in chemical synthesis, polymer properties, modeling, simulation, and data analysis.

If you know a talented postdoc with the potential to excel in these areas who would make a good match with the Institute Charles Sadron in Strasbourg, France, we would greatly appreciate it if you could connect them with us as soon as possible, since the deadline to apply is July 14, 2025.
